European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP)- 2020 calls for proposals

EDIDP is a biannual programme (2019-20) aiming at enhancing the competitiveness of the EU defence industry. EDIDP aims at supporting the efforts of the EU defence industry in the development of defence equipment and technologies through co-financing from the EU budget. EDIDP has a budget of €500 million in total for 2019 and 2020.

EDIDP is part of the European Defence Fund, launched by the Commission in June 2017, to help Member States* spend money more efficiently, reduce duplications, and get better value for money by coordinating, supplementing and amplifying national investments in defence research and development activities.

Priorities

The objective/priority of the EDIDP is to foster the competitiveness, efficiency and innovation capacity of the defence industry throughout the Union, thus contributing to the Union's strategic autonomy.

Furthermore, EDIDP aims at supporting and leveraging the cooperation including across borders between undertakings including SMEs and mid-caps.

Finally, EDIDP also aims to foster better exploitation of the results of defence research and contribute to development after the research phase.

The programme addresses AI and comprises a special strain for SMEs.
