Preparation
During the preliminary phase of the development of a TOTEM Infrastructure, we collaborated with Addestino. First, the scope of the project was clearly defined. Initially, the focus is on assessing the environmental impact of infrastructure works relating to roads, squares and paving. These constitute the most significant emissions category within infrastructure works. Extending the scope to other types of infrastructure works will only be considered at a later stage, but must be borne in mind during the development process. The aim of the preliminary phase is threefold:
- To gain an understanding of how the new TOTEM tool should be integrated within the current tendering framework for infrastructure projects to ensure sustainable use.
- To gain an understanding of the user needs for the new TOTEM tool, what the tool’s development process should look like, and what further developments are still required in terms of data and methodology.
- To understand the market’s willingness to meet the functional and technical requirements arising from point 2.
To conclude the preliminary phase, we organised an open market consultation with industry stakeholders. During this consultation, the reference architecture was presented and the use cases were discussed one by one and assessed in terms of their technical feasibility, associated risks and the market’s willingness to meet them.
