Implementation
The innovation partnership comprises three phases (see also the procurement tab):
- Study phase (2–3 innovation partners);
- Living lab phase (1 innovation partner);
- Commercialisation and maintenance phase.
The study phase started at the end of February 2026 with two consortia. The first consortium consists of contractor Artes Depret, product developer Saint-Gobain Solutions and architectural engineering firm Bureau Bouwtechniek. The second consortium is a collaboration between contractor CIT Blaton, product developer Soltech and architectural engineering firm Sunsoak Design & Architecture. Each consortium is further complemented by various experts in areas including structural stability, sustainable energy, heritage and fire safety.
If everything goes according to plan, the consortium with the highest-rated BIPV solution will be selected in spring 2027 and awarded the final contract. In a living lab, this BIPV solution will be thoroughly tested before ultimately being implemented across the entire building during the 2027–2029 period.
