Uitdaging

Pidpa is an integrated water utility responsible for the production, distribution, and supply of drinking water to residents, businesses, and local governments in Flanders. Pidpa faces a significant investment challenge related to major drinking water infrastructure and aims to create a situation in which investment decisions and operational optimizations are supported by an integrated model capable of comprehensively analyzing the entire drinking water system. Currently, there is a lack of a holistic system perspective that takes into account production, distribution, the use of new water sources, connections with partner companies, demand patterns, and uncertainties in an integrated manner. Existing analysis tools allow only limited scenario comparisons, do not sufficiently account for system effects, and do not offer the possibility of structural uncertainty analysis.  The development of an innovative strategic water production and distribution model enables optimal investment in a future-proof drinking water supply.
