Challenge

OLV and A.S.Z. will merge on January 1, 2025, to form the hospital AZORG. Various services will be clustered on one of the campuses in Aalst, resulting in an increased need for the transport of samples and materials. The hospital aims to use sustainable and reliable alternatives for this purpose. The project focuses on the development of drone transport for urgent and unforeseen deliveries, where road transport is less efficient or not possible within the required timeframe, taking into account the regulations for drone transport of human tissue. The project includes the development of a safe and reliable transport system with the installation of a pneumatic tube system equipped with innovative technology, allowing a drone to pick up and drop off a tube with a sample. This will be combined with a traceability system, ensuring that the location of materials is always known.
