Aquafin operates more than 300 installations for the purification of domestic wastewater, spread throughout Flanders, and in this way contributes to good water quality in Flemish waterways. Aquafin wants to make a major effort to contribute to achieving the objectives of the Water Framework Directive in 2027 through further purification of household water. Aquafin wants to construct tertiary sand filters for extensive nutrient removal at a large number of wastewater treatment plants. 

However, a classic construction project and tender have a long lead time and cost. In this project, Aquafin is looking for an innovative construction concept in which hyper-standardization, modularity, compactness and smooth assembly are central in order to achieve the ecological objectives in our waterways in a timely and cheaper manner.
